The Secret Lives Of Students: School Issues Through the Eyes of Students

We introduced a new series while schools were out for the summer: The Secret Lives of Students. We wanted students to tell us what life is really like in Florida schools.

The students are part of Breakthrough Miami, which runs programs in the summer and during the school year for students in elementary, middle and high schools.

We asked students to tell us what was on their minds. The answer? School lunches, cliques, school fights and other aspects of school life.

They told us why an empty seat next to you a bus ride home is a big deal, the advice they would give a brand new teacher, and what they think of online classes and ‘teaching to the test.’

And school lunches — lots of complaints about school lunches.
