Philadelphia-based Sunoco Logistics will host two public forums in southeast Pennsylvania this week to discuss its proposed Mariner East 2 pipeline project.
The 350-mile, $2.5 billion pipeline will run parallel to its predecessor, Mariner East 1 and carry natural gas liquids such as ethane and propane from Ohio to the Marcus Hook industrial complex in Delaware County, Pa. As the Philadelphia Inquirer reported earlier this month, Sunoco Logistics is also planning to build a second pipeline as part of the Mariner East 2 project.
Mariner East 1 involved reversing the flow of an existing pipeline, whereas this involves new construction. Both projects have been met with opposition from communities along the route.
The first open house will be held tonight in West Chester, Chester County. The second is scheduled for Wednesday evening in Media, Delaware County.
More details from the Sunoco Logistics press release:
The purpose of the open houses is to provide landowners and local officials the opportunity to learn more about the Mariner East 2 pipeline and interact directly with officials from Sunoco Logistics and our contractors on the project.
Here is the information for each event:
Eastern Chester County: Monday, June 29, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Sykes Student Union Bldg., West Chester University, 110 West Rosedale Avenue, West Chester, PA 19383.
Delaware County: Wednesday, July 1, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Kings Mills, 6000 Pennell Road, Media, PA 19063.
Attendees will also have a chance to ask questions during an informational presentation. At each, a presentation will be held from 6-7 p.m. and repeated from 7:15-8:15 p.m.
