Do football fans want to work in the fracking industry?
A Pittsburgh-area recruiter has chosen an interesting strategy to find talented people to work in Pennsylvania’s Marcellus Shale industry.
According to the Pittsburgh Business Times, David Baker, of the Marcellus Resources Group, is hitting up Pittsburgh Steelers bars around the country:

[Baker] has found that targeting bars has been useful for finding some executives but is largely successful in finding engineers, technical talent and scientists, or as Baker put it, “people that let their hair down.”
In fact there is a good Pittsburgh bar in Charlotte, N.C., he said, and he has come to know the owner and takes fliers for job opportunities there.
This unorthodox recruiting strategy grew out of the more traditional strategy of identifying cities are home to Pittsburgh’s expat population, he said. Like other companies and recruiters Baker goes after boomerangs who want to come home.
