EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson will be in Philadelphia on Tuesday to announce a $1.2 billion project to reduce flooding on city streets and control stormwater runoff. The city’s water department operates “Green City, Clean Waters,” a project that develops porous pavements, raingardens and green roofs to better absorb runoff and divert it into the city’s sewer system. The program is meant to serve as a national model.
Jackson will appear with Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and Congresswoman Alyson Schwartz at the Fairmount Water Works.
