Lancaster Company Credits Drilling For Boom In Business

  • Scott Detrow

There’s no Marcellus Shale in Lancaster County, but a company there has seen a 20-percent jump in business, due to Pennsylvania’s drilling boom.
WITF has more:

Mount Joy Wire Corporation in Mount Joy, Lancaster County has experienced a 20 percent jump in the production of wires for brushes used by drilling companies in the last two years. CEO Tom Duff says the business has needed more help to handle the increasing demand for its product. “It has certainly helped create additional jobs here for us and bring people back to work from the Great Recession,” he says. “During 2010, we ended up bringing back almost 30 people who had been on layoff, and since then, we’ve created about eight additional jobs.”
