Air Monitoring Group Says Gas Drilling is Toxic

An environmental group based in California that promotes worldwide citizen air monitoring says a pilot project in New Mexico and Colorado shows high levels of air pollution near gas drilling sites. The Global Community Monitor has written to the EPA about the study, urging federal environmental regulators to strengthen air quality monitoring and regulations near gas drilling sites.
The group released its report back in July. The EPA has recently announced its intentions to update air quality rules. Global Community Monitor used residents to gather the data, which they say revealed high levels of carcinogens. The full report can be read here.
