PA DEP Shaken Up Over Gas Drilling

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection announced a reorganization today that would elevate the status of the Bureau of Oil and Gas Management, which oversees Marcellus Shale drilling. In a press release, DEP Secretary Michael Krancer says the reorganization will “improve internal communications and coordination.”
Krancer also announced the creation of several new bureaus: the Bureau of Environmental Cleanup and Brownfields, the Bureau of Conservation and Reclamation, and the Office of Pollution Prevention and Energy Assistance. StateImpactPA’s Scott Detrow will have more on this story later this afternoon. To read the entire news release click here.
