State Workforce

The state itself is the single biggest employer in Oklahoma, according to the Commerce Department.

About 34,000 people in 127 agencies were employed by the State of Oklahoma in FY 2011, records show. That number doesn’t include those employed by the Department of Education.

The average annual salary for state employees is $40,026, according to the state’s annual workforce summary.
