Where Does Idaho Stuff Go? A Guide To Exports

Idaho exports everything from memory chips and paper products to crop seeds and butter.

Data from the Idaho Department of Commerce show exports from the Gem State grew 3.5 percent from 2011 to 2012.

More than $6.1 billion worth of Idaho exports headed to other countries in 2012. Canada led the way purchasing more than $1.3 billion in Idaho products.

Export growth from 2010 to 2011 was 14 percent, totaling $5.89 billion worth of goods.

The largest share of Idaho exports are electronic tech goods like memory chips. Mining products, (especially silver), food and agriculture products, transportation equipment, and fertilizer rounded out the top five exports in 2012.

Most of Idaho’s exports, nearly 30 percent, go to Canada. Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea and China round out the top five countries buying Idaho products.

Gov. Otter Travels To China To Sell Idaho Products
