Manufacturers Increase Use of Natural Gas

Low natural gas prices are continuing to help boost the industrial sector, according to a report out Thursday by the Energy Information Administration. EIA says the use of natural gas by manufacturers rose three percent compared to the same six month period last year. As the gas industry pushes for export approvals, the manufacturing industry has pushed back, saying exports could create a rise in domestic gas prices that would hurt the recovering sector. A recent report commissioned by the Department of Energy predicts moderate price increases as a result of new exports.
