AP Reports Explosion At Susquehanna County Compressor Station

According to the AP, emergency crews are responding to an “explosion” at a natural gas compressor station in Springville Township, Susquehanna County.

SPRINGVILLE, Pa.—Crews are responding to an explosion at a natural gas compressor station in northeastern Pennsylvania.
The state Department of Environmental Protection says natural gas is leaking from the Lathrop compressor station in Springville Township, Susquehanna County.
DEP spokeswoman Colleen Connolly says there are no reports of injuries.
DEP was alerted to the explosion around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
The compressor station, which is operated by Williams, pressurizes natural gas taken from the Marcellus Shale formation for movement along the pipeline system.

Springville has 58 active producing Marcellus Shale wells, according to StateImpact Pennsylvania’s Shale Play app.
