Proof day-to-day life moves forward at embattled Penn State University: the school is hosting a three-day Marcellus Summit this week.
From the summit’s website:

The 2011 Marcellus Summit is scheduled for November 16 through 18, 2011, at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel. The Interstate Oil & Gas Compact Commission, Penn State Cooperative Extension, and Penn State Outreach are partnering to host this fourth annual event.
Real Issues, Balanced Perspectives: The 2011 Marcellus Summit will feature topics on real issues and provide a balanced perspective on shale gas development in the Appalachian Basin. Attendees will identify and discuss challenges, opportunities, and common goals (environmental concerns, regional infrastructure development, issues for local governments, local economic opportunities, and legal issues related to natural gas development) so that stakeholders can make informed, educated decisions that best suit the needs of the region. These timely discussions can also help communities improve local decision making, empower them to guide their own decisions, and improve the social and economic well-being of their citizens.
