Background
Rep. Scott Bedke is a rancher from Oakley, Idaho. He was elected Speaker of the House in December 2012, defeating three-term incumbent Rep. Lawerence Denney.
Bedke was first elected to the Idaho House of Representatives in 2000. He’s spent the last eight years as Assistant Majority Leader. He represents House District 27 which includes Bingham, Cassia, Oneida and Power Counties.
Originally from Twin Falls, Bedke gradated from Oakley High School and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in finance from Brigham Young University in Utah.
When Bedke isn’t legislating, he’s ranching. Bedke is the former president of the Idaho Cattle Association, and former director of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. Bedke got his start in politics as a City Council member in Oakley.
Bedke and his wife Sarah have four children and two grandchildren.
