Gov. Otter Appoints Jani Revier To Head Division Of Financial Management

Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter today named Jani Revier to be his new budget director at the Division of Financial Management.

Here’s the press release from the governor’s office:

(BOISE) – Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter announced the appointment today of Jani Revier – a senior member of his staff during three terms in Congress – to become administrator of the State Division of Financial Management.

She succeeds Wayne Hammon, who resigned in September to become executive director of the Idaho Associated General Contractors. The appointment is effective January 2, 2013, and is subject to Senate confirmation. Revier will be the first woman ever to serve as Idaho’s State budget director.

“I’m extremely fortunate to have such an experienced, savvy and proven leader agree to assume the responsibilities of budget director,” Governor Otter said. “I worked closely with Jani in Congress and I’ve known her and her family for many years. They are great people, and Jani is an excellent addition to my team.”

“I am honored and grateful to be given the opportunity to serve Governor Otter and the people of Idaho as DFM administrator,” Revier said. “I look forward to working with the Legislature, agency directors, stakeholders, and my colleagues in the Governor’s office to advance a responsible budget and sound public policy.”

Revier, an Idaho native, has been working as a special projects manager for Congressman Mike Simpson since 2007. She was legislative director and then deputy chief of staff during then-Congressman Otter’s years in Congress, from 2001 through 2006. The Capitol Hill veteran previously was director of the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Forestry, Conservation and Rural Revitalization, and began her career in public service as a legislative assistant to then-Senator Larry Craig.

Revier has a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Oklahoma State University, and did post-graduate work in agricultural and resource economics at Oregon State University.

She and her husband John have two young children and live in Meridian. Revier’s father is third-term State Senator Bert Brackett of Rogerson, incoming chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee.
