As we <a href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/texas\/2012\/02\/22\/texas-striped-bass-the-next-victims-of-the-drought\/\">reported in February<\/a>, the hatchery is\u00a0responsible\u00a0for much of Texas&#8217; striped bass supply. More from <a href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/texas\/2012\/02\/22\/texas-striped-bass-the-next-victims-of-the-drought\/\">our earlier report<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;There are\u00a0four hatcheries in the state run by the<a href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/texas\/tag\/texas-parks-and-wildlife-department\/\"> Texas Parks and Wildlife Department <\/a>and supplies up to five million striped bass fingerlings (or baby fish)\u00a0per year.\u00a0 Unlike most other species of sport fish in Texas, striped bass do not naturally procreate in the state.
