The tremor was felt by several people in the area, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/thescoopblog.dallasnews.com\/2012\/12\/yes-fort-worth-that-was-an-earthquake-you-just-felt.html\/\">Dallas Morning News<\/a>. This seismic activity comes just under a month since the last <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/north-texas-records-2-3-131110070.html;_ylt=Avi3bfEwBtKwkj5clftH0u.1qHQA;_ylu=X3oDMTQwOTBycmZxBG1pdANUb3BpY3MgQ29sbGVjdGlvbiBMaXN0BHBrZwM0ZjM1MDYwZi03NjljLTM2N2ItYjg0Yy03NGJmNDhmYWQ4MGUEcG9zAzIEc2VjA3RvcF9zdG9yeQR2ZXIDNWJiZGVjODAtMzMyYi0xMWUyLWFmZDYtMDc4YmE4MGIwOTlm;_ylg=X3oDMTFlamZvM2ZlBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdAMEcHQDc2VjdGlvbnM-;_ylv=3\">small quake<\/a>. That measured a 2.3 on the Richter Scale and and was centered near Mansfield, Texas.<\/p>\n<p>While it\u2019s difficult to link any individual quake to a specific cause, North Texas has seen a significant uptick in seismic events since hydraulic fracturing technology opened up the area to widespread oil and gas drilling. Some of them have even been the subject of some tongue-in-cheek <a href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/texas\/2012\/10\/02\/the-dallas-earthquake-we-will-rebuild\/\">internet humor<\/a>.\u00a0 Though quakes of even medium magnitude could cause damage, especially in highly populated areas.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Fort Worth Star-Telegram<\/em>\u00a0talked to Fort Worth police Captain Kevin Rodricks, who says that the 911 center was\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.star-telegram.com\/2012\/12\/12\/4480972\/quake-felt-throughout-southern.html\">inundated with calls from citizens<\/a>\u00a0who reported\u00a0\u201ca loud bang, followed by tremors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More from the <em>Star-Telegram<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt shook the whole house,\u201d said Tina Enriquez, who is used to earthquakes having grown up in California. \u201cMy husband came out of the back and said it felt like the whole house came up and slammed back down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Enriquez lives in Southwest Fort Worth and says the temblor lasted about two or three seconds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt felt like an explosion,\u201d explains the California native. \u201cIt was just a little tremble.
