Travel and transportation has largely come to a standstill in many areas of the Northeast. In the photos above, you can see the impact of one of the most destructive storms in the area&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n<p>And while the storm&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2012\/10\/28\/nyregion\/hurricane-sandy.html?hp\">physical damage<\/a> is limited to the East, that doesn&#8217;t mean it hasn&#8217;t been felt here in Texas. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.statesman.com\/news\/news\/transportation\/austin-flights-affected-by-sandy-airport-officials\/nSrfT\/\">Many flights have been canceled<\/a>\u00a0at Texas airports. And several Texas utilities are sending staff East to help restore power in areas affected by Sandy.<\/p>\n<p>Some thirty tree-trimming and eight distribution contractors from <a href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/texas\/tag\/austin-energy\/\">Austin Energy<\/a> are headed Northeast to help, as are crews from Entergy, Oncor, and CenterPoint. AEP Texas is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aeptexas.com\/info\/news\/ViewRelease.aspx?releaseID=1318\">sending 81 employees to West Virginia<\/a> to help AEP crews there restore power, and has released an additional 38 contact crews to help as well.
