While price is most on our minds, there&#8217;s also plenty to think about with the production and impact of oil.<\/p>\n<p>A new art app for the iPad aims to get viewers to think deeper on the subject.<\/p>\n<p>The new app is simply called \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.edwardburtynsky.com\/Introduction\/Works_Intro\/Oil_Intro\/Oil_Intro.html\">Edward Burtynsky: Oil<\/a>,\u201d and features over a hundred images by the renowned photographer of industry. (Nearly a quarter of the images have counterpart audio-commentary by the artist). The app coincides with exhibitions of the same work at The Photographers&#8217; Gallery in London (there&#8217;s video of that on the app, too)\u00a0and at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nevadaart.org\/exhibitions\/detail?eid=202\">Nevada Museum of Art in Reno<\/a> starting June 9. The goal? To get people to think more about the oil industry&#8217;s impact.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Burtynsky looks at oil internationally, paying particular attention to issues like extraction and refinement, how transportation affects culture, and the &#8220;end of oil.&#8221; That section shows what happens when tankers get <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edwardburtynsky.com\/WORKS\/Oil\/Oil_Book\/THE_END_OF_OIL\/071-URM_11_97_Oil.html\">stripped<\/a>, tires get <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edwardburtynsky.com\/WORKS\/Oil\/Oil_Book\/THE_END_OF_OIL\/075-OTP_02_99_Oil.html\">scrapped<\/a>, and wells run <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edwardburtynsky.com\/WORKS\/Oil\/Oil_Book\/THE_END_OF_OIL\/063-OLF_BAKU_10_06.html\">dry<\/a>.\u00a0(You can see a slideshow of some of Burtnysky&#8217;s images in the app above.)<\/p>\n<p>Houston <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edwardburtynsky.com\/WORKS\/Oil\/Oil_Book\/EXTRACTION_and_REFINEMENT\/026-OLR_34_04_Oil.html\">oil refineries<\/a> are among those featured in the exhibit.
