This post explains those sources.<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/texas\/drought\/#history\" target=\"_blank\">HISTORY<\/a><\/h2>\n<p><strong>U.S. drought map:<\/strong> The map relies on mapping <a href=\"http:\/\/droughtmonitor.unl.edu\/dmshps_archive.htm\">shapefiles<\/a> released by the <a href=\"http:\/\/droughtmonitor.unl.edu\/archive.html\" target=\"_blank\">U.S. Drought Monitor<\/a>, which includes the National Drought Mitigation Center, U.S. Department of Agriculture and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
