Thanks again to all the station folk who made it out to our DC meetup. We learned so much from you and hopefully you’re revved up for the project after everything we talked about. I was taking photos of y’all throughout the day… so here’s a look at you in action.
It’s almost time for our big news director confab in Washington, DC. As we finalize more plans for this local-national collaboration, each of our pilot states will be represented to talk about the big ideas driving our project, and the logistics of getting to launch.
But all work and no play makes for boring journalists. So we hope you will join us for convening-related extracurriculars. Please let us know if you will be taking part in the following:
Thursday night dinner at Busboys and Poets
We’ll get the convening started off right in this unpretentious space that serves healthy portions. A popular drinking and dining place for Washingtonians, Busboys and Poets is a jack-of-all-trades, starting the mornings with coffees and breakfast but staying open late for libation. The open space also features a bookstore and theatre, among other functions. Come as you are, this is a totally casual get-together for the group.

Let Teddy win?
Friday night baseball game: Washington Nationals vs. Florida Marlins
Game time is 7:05. We’ll provide shuttle transportation from your hotel. Come for the game, stay for the famous President’s Race between the four presidents featured on Mount Rushmore. (The running joke is Teddy Roosevelt always loses.) There’s no bad seat at new home of the Nationals, and you can even bring in concessions from outside the stadium. Stadium concessions feature the famous Ben’s Chili Bowl in case you want something besides the standard ballpark hot dog.
Again, don’t forget to let us know which extracurriculars you’re coming to with our quick web survey. See you soon.
