Company officials said they could no longer afford product liability insurance.<\/p><p>But the manufacturing plant will reopen, and 80 jobs will return to northeastern Oklahoma, the <em>Tulsa World<\/em>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tulsaworld.com\/business\/article.aspx?subjectid=461&articleid=20120915_461_E1_MIAMIO656046\">Sheila Stogsdill reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Del., approved a $9.5 million offer from Toronto-based Scepter to purchase Blitz USA, said Philip Monckton, vice president of sales and marketing. Scepter bought the land, equipment and other assets, he said.<\/p><\/blockquote><p><!--more-->In July, Blitz faced 42 lawsuits \u2014 most filed by the same three attorneys \u2014 Marketplace&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketplace.org\/topics\/business\/largest-maker-gas-cans-going-out-business\">Sally Heships reported over the summer<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Consumers have accused the company of making faulty cans that explode when used to pour gasoline onto fires.<\/p><\/blockquote><p>Winning such lawsuits often offers little financial vindication for companies.
