President Barack Obama&#39;s proposed defense bill ends a program to upgrade the transport plane, jeopardizing hundreds of jobs in Oklahoma City.<\/p>\n<\/div><p>The defense funding bill approved today by the U.S. Armed Services Committee delays ending an aircraft modernization program underway in Oklahoma City.<\/p><p>In 2010, Boeing announced plans to move about 550 jobs to Oklahoma City from Long Beach, Calif, to work on upgrades for the Air Force\u2019s C-130 transport planes and to the weapons system of the B-1 bomber.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The bill includes a call for a cost-benefit comparison of ending the C-130-Avionics Modernization Program versus continuing the program, the Associated Press <a href=\"http:\/\/newsok.com\/study-would-be-needed-before-ending-c-130-program-in-oklahoma-city\/article\/3674193?custom_click=rss&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+newsok%2Fbusiness+%28NewsOK.com+RSS+-+business%29&utm_content=Google+Reader\">reports<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote><p><!--more-->The program was <a href=\"http:\/\/articles.boston.com\/2012-02-14\/business\/31060003_1_budget-plan-boeing-plant-upgrades\">canceled<\/a> in President Barack Obama\u2019s federal budget proposal, which officials said would save $2.3 billion through 2017.<\/p><p>Ending the program would jeopardize about 230 jobs, the AP&#8217;s Ken Miller <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tulsaworld.com\/news\/article.aspx?subjectid=16&articleid=20120509_16_0_OKLAHO918907&rss_lnk=1\">reports<\/a>.
