The House is expected to adopt the Senate version.<\/p><p>Agriculture amendments play a small but important <a href=\"http:\/\/farmfutures.com\/story.aspx\/agriculture-trucking-exemptions-passed-17\/58094\">role<\/a> in both bills.<\/p><p>As <a href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/oklahoma\/2012\/03\/08\/in-oklahoma-and-around-the-country-the-open-road-is-always-hiring\/\">we reported<\/a> last week, the federal government heavily regulates the commercial trucking industry. Not surprisingly, commercial motor carriers and truckers aren\u2019t huge fans of these relatively new regulations, which, among other things, restrict the amount of time drivers spend behind the wheel.<\/p><p>The farm industry has an exemption on driver service hours during the spring planting and fall harvesting season, and wants to make sure that exemption is extended.<\/p><p>And the Senate bill <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/hostednews\/ap\/article\/ALeqM5h-KTH1LPQLG53jSej9WsvdBUuzww?docId=741fa8daf56244539ecf4413304db39e\">includes<\/a> an amendment that exempts farm drivers operating within a 150-mile radius from federal commercial driver\u2019s licensing, certain commercial vehicle inspections and transportation safety requirements.<\/p><p>U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ardmoreite.com\/news\/x1907510210\/Inhofe-praises-Senate-passage-of-farm-truck-exemption\">praised<\/a> the amendment, which is similar to the version introduced by U.S. Rep.
