Montana increased state funding for higher ed. the most, 17.2 percent.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The funding reductions, seen across nearly every state, have resulted in larger class sizes and fewer course offerings at many universities and come as enrollment continues to rise, the AP&#8217;s Christine Armario <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ajc.com\/news\/nation-world\/state-higher-education-spending-1313005.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+StatelineorgRss-Oklahoma+%28Stateline.org+RSS+-+Oklahoma%29&utm_content=Google+Reader\">reported<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote><p>State funding for higher education has declined because of a slow recovery from the recession and the end of federal stimulus money, according to the study, which was released Monday.<\/p><p>Higher education in Oklahoma will likely be in the cross-hairs for the upcoming legislative session, state House and Senate budget leaders <a href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/oklahoma\/2012\/01\/06\/ok-budget-2012-appropriations-leaders-offer-insight\/\">confirmed<\/a> to StateImpact Oklahoma.<\/p><p>Meanwhile, higher education officials are traveling across the state to make the case for a $34 million budget increase, the <em>Tulsa World<\/em>&#8216;s Sara Plummer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tulsaworld.com\/news\/article.aspx?subjectid=330&articleid=20120121_11_A19_CUTLIN986059\">reports<\/a>.<\/p><p>The Grapevine study doesn&#8217;t take enrollment into account.
