Jenks Public Schools is considering a masking rule <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jenksps.org\/vimages\/shared\/vnews\/stories\/5745de5751707\/AGENDAS%20Jenks%20Public%20Schools%20Special%20Board%20Meeting%20September%209%202021.pdf\">Thursday night<\/a> and Tulsa Union Public Schools is considering <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/scschoolfiles\/1967\/bd_agenda_9-10-21_sp.pdf\">a similar measure<\/a> Friday.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">State law allows parents to get an exemption from vaccines for personal, religious or medical reasons. During a court hearing last week, Mai said the statute treats public and private schools differently and therefore was unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Masking has remained a heatedly debated topic. Parents who oppose mandatory masking in schools are unafraid to show up at school board meetings.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Wednesday night at a school board meeting in Tahlequah to approve a new masking requirement, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tahlequahdailypress.com\/covid-19\/tahlequah-district-approves-mask-mandate\/article_71c083e6-1100-11ec-a70a-b7c457588c7e.html\">Tahlequah Daily Press reports<\/a> they did just that. Last month, parents took similar action at <a href=\"https:\/\/kfor.com\/news\/local\/edmond-school-district-delegates-power-to-superintendent-to-make-changes-amid-pandemic-parents-upset-by-decision\/\">a school board meeting in Edmond <\/a>to allow that district\u2019s superintendent to make changes to the district\u2019s COVID-19 mitigation policies.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The debate is unlikely to be abated.
