Previously, public admissions had been fuzzy in some cases.<!--more--><\/p><p>&#8230;<\/p><p>That\u2019s because each state\u2019s laws and geography are unique, Ohio Oil & Gas Chief Rick Simmers, who co-chaired the effort, told The Associated Press. The report says, \u201ca one-size-fits-all approach would not be an effective tool for state regulators.\u201d<\/p><p>Simmers said the report is in the form of a primer, providing states with up-to-date scientific and technical data, case studies and several suggested approaches for detecting and managing the quakes.<\/p><\/blockquote><p>A &#8220;handful of Oklahoma residents&#8221; have petitioned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to take over Oklahoma&#8217;s regulation of oil and gas disposal wells, <em>The Oklahoman<\/em>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oklahoman.com\/article\/5450063?access=3463893aba1631c22d95a0bc64c596ab\">Paul Monies reports<\/a>. But Michael Teague, Oklahoma&#8217;s Secretary of Energy and Environment, says the EPA district that covers the state &#8220;isn&#8217;t interested in taking that step.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIn Oklahoma, we are probably in this thing deeper than anybody else,\u201d Teague said. \u201cThere have been no threats from the EPA. As a matter of fact, there has been tremendous cooperation from the EPA. Region 6 has received about a dozen petitions requesting EPA revoke Oklahoma&#8217;s primacy.
