The base was deactivated near the end of WWII and reactivated in 1953 as a training base for transport aircraft. The school was activated in in 1942, deactivated in 1945 and reactivated in 1948. The base\u2019s 71st Flying Training Wing trains Air Force, Navy, Marine and international student pilots.
