Jim Inhofe, R, Oklahoma<\/p>\n<\/div><p>Silicon Valley tech giant Google on Thursday is hosting a fundraising lunch for Oklahoma Republican U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe.<\/p><p>Politically correct Google is among the biggest corporate champions of renewable energy. So why would a company that \u201chas made combating climate change a core part of its business operating strategy and brand,\u201d help raise funds for a big climate change denier like Inhofe, The Daily Beast\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/articles\/2013\/07\/10\/google-hosts-fundraiser-for-climate-denying-senator-james-inhofe.html\">William O\u2019Connor asks<\/a>?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Inhofe isn\u2019t just an ordinary denier of climate-change science. He\u2019s one of its more truculent opponents. Inhofe has called it a mass delusion.<\/p><p>By their words and deeds, Google\u2019s leaders express contempt for the type of flat-eartherism that Inhofe represents.<\/p><\/blockquote><p><!--more--><\/p><p>One reason, O\u2019Connor writes, is that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&cad=rja&ved=0CEIQFjAD&url=http%3A%2F%2Fokcommerce.gov%2Fabout-okcommerce%2Fnews-and-media-releases%2Fpryor-and-google-to-celebrate-the-launch-of-free-public-wi-fi%2F&ei=57fdUey9IYm3yQG_nIDwBQ&usg=AFQjCNG8D2lOaXs1bZUx0UZiFOxcNHGwtw&sig2=iLRqZceqCOVe-iV_FZGx5Q\">Google has a big data center in Pryor<\/a>, Oklahoma. The tech company explained it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/environment\/2013\/jul\/09\/google-climate-denier-jim-inhofe\">this way<\/a> to <em>The Guardian<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe regularly host fundraisers for candidates, on both sides of the aisle, but that doesn&#8217;t mean we endorse all of their positions. And while we disagree on climate-change policy, we share an interest with Senator Inhofe in the employees and data center we have in Oklahoma.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><p>But Google and Inhofe might see eye-to-eye on another, non-environmental issue: reducing corporate taxes, O\u2019Connor writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>But as an uncooperative member of an uncooperative minority, he has little ability to move legislation.
