{"id":1390,"date":"2011-10-17T09:41:40","date_gmt":"2011-10-17T14:41:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/oklahoma\/?p=1390"},"modified":"2011-10-17T11:44:58","modified_gmt":"2011-10-17T16:44:58","slug":"public-trusts-and-counties-late-on-filing-state-mandated-audits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/oklahoma\/2011\/10\/17\/public-trusts-and-counties-late-on-filing-state-mandated-audits\/","title":{"rendered":"Public Trusts and Counties Late on Filing State-Mandated Audits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More than half of Oklahoma\u2019s 1,284 public trusts are breaking state law by not filing timely audits with the state Auditor and Inspector, the <em>Tulsa World<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tulsaworld.com\/news\/article.aspx?subjectid=11&articleid=20111017_11_A1_CUTLIN845106\">reported<\/a> today.<\/p><p>Some trusts have been delinquent for several years, records show, and just a third of Oklahoma\u2019s 77 counties have a current audit on file, State Auditor Gary Jones told the paper\u2019s Omer Gillham.<\/p><p>In January, only 10 counties had filed audits, Jones said.<\/p><p><!--more-->Jones, who took office in January, told the <em>World<\/em> that he inherited a backlog of audits and outdated trust records.
