The authority is asking for $166 million to maintain current service levels of SoonerCare, Oklahoma\u2019s Medicaid program, The Oklahoman <a href=\"http:\/\/newsok.com\/oklahoma-health-agency-budget-request-may-top-1-billion\/article\/3613236?custom_click=headlines_widget&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+StatelineorgRss-Oklahoma+%28Stateline.org+RSS+-+Oklahoma%29&utm_content=Google+Reader\">reported<\/a> today.<\/p><p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.okhca.org\/\">authority<\/a> wants another $33 million to restore the health care provider\u2019s rate cuts from FY2010, and $16 million to give nursing homes, private duty nurses and other providers rate increases, which would bring them up to national industry standards, the paper reported.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt&#8217;s so that we can monitor the program efficiently and effectively,\u201d Juarez McCann, the authority\u2019s chief budget officer told the paper.<\/p><\/blockquote><p>The authority\u2019s other funding requests include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>About $6.5 million to \u201cenhance\u201d the Medicaid benefit package with programs like substance abuse treatment<\/li>\n<li>$1.5 million to meet mandates of the new Federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act<\/li>\n<li>$890,000 to insure quality oversight of SoonerCare<\/li>\n<li>$212,000 to update the authority\u2019s computer system<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>About 900,000 Oklahomans receive services from the state Medicaid program, an authority spokesman told the paper.
