“EPA Records Show Jump in Osage County Penalties”

The number of EPA-issued Clean Water Act penalties for disposal well operations in Osage County doubled this year, the Journal Record reports.

Jeff Henry, president of the Osage County Cattlemen’s Association, noted the doubling of penalties compared to the nearly identical number of inspections. The EPA conducted six more inspections this year compared to 2012 in the May-through-August period. The EPA has conducted 68 inspections this year.
“From our perspective, we continue to see the same operators get into trouble,” Henry said. “It is an ongoing issue.”
