These Are the People Who Want to Be Superintendent of the Toledo School District

Five people have applied to serve as interim superintendent of the Toledo schools, the Toledo Blade reports. Current Toledo Superintendent Jerome Pecko will step down this year after his contract was not renewed by the school board.

The interim position was posted for less than a month, and advertised only on the school district’s website. School board president Brenda Hill tells the Blade the person hired as interim superintendent “could be made permanent.”

Applicants are TPS Assistant Superintendent Romules Durant; Oregon City Schools Superintendent Michael Zalar; Xenia Community Schools Superintendent Deborah Piotrowski; Cleveland Heights-University Heights Schools Superintendent Douglas Heuer, and Catherine Smith, a former TPS teacher and administrator who spent recent years teaching in Florida.
