State Legislators May Act After Columbus Schools Data Scandal

The state auditor’s report of widespread data rigging in the Columbus Schools has lawmakers questioning what the state can do to ensure such cheating doesn’t happen again. Rep. Gerald Stebelton tells the Columbus Dispatch the state may need to put more pressure on districts to report their data accurately, and perhaps audit them more frequently.

While no one is saying specifically how state legislators will respond to the Columbus schools data-scrubbing scandal, one thing is clear: The issue is not going to fade from their radar anytime soon. “This is something you have to move on,” said Speaker William G.
