ODE Reviewers Release Report with Recommendations for Youngstown City Schools

In May, a team contracted by the Ohio Department of Education visited Youngstown City Schools to learn more about how the district functioned, including looking at criteria including district leadership, curriculum, and professional development. Several months later, the group has released their findings. The Youngstown Vindicator reports one of the major points the group discovered was a lack of both understanding and communication from school board members. The group recommends more focused training opportunities for faculty and staff members the Vindicator reports.

A common theme heard by a team of reviewers contracted by the Ohio Department of Education to gauge the city school district was a lack of understanding of board members’ roles and responsibilities, the state associate superintendent said.
