Lorain Schools to Fall Under State Supervision

The Lorain schools will soon fall under state supervision because of their continued low performance.

Youngstown is already under the supervision of an Academic Distress Commission. Under state law, the Cleveland schools should be too, but district officials are hoping to avoid state supervision. It’s unclear how or if that could happen.

As the district has not received official notification, Superintendent Tom Tucker and Williams declined to comment.

“I probably have more questions than I have answers right now,” Williams said. “There are a lot of things in motion.”
