Tomorrow is my last day as a reporter for StateImpact Ohio.
StateImpact Ohio launched two and a half years ago with the mission of explaining the impact of state education policy on the lives of Ohioans. I am proud of the work we have done in service of that mission.
Among my personal highlights:
- This investigation into the use and misuse of seclusion rooms in Ohio schools;
- This look into how the use of value-added data is changing how Ohio teachers are evaluated;
- Helping launch Ohio’s first Twitter chat for educators; and
- Explaining time and again how decisions made in Columbus affect teachers, students and taxpayers across the state.
And who can forget the StateImpact Ohio school finance lolcat contest?
Thank you to my colleagues at StateImpact, in public media and elsewhere.
And thank you, StateImpact Ohio community, for supporting our work. You have shown that Ohioans care deeply about education and that media coverage of education policy can be a force for good.
