Columbus Education Commission Approves Recommendations to Improve Columbus Schools

A mayoral commission approved Friday a set of recommendations that would give city officials greater say over how Ohio’s largest school district operates.

The Columbus Education Commission unanimously approved proposed changes that commission members say will put Columbus schools “on the track for success,” WOSU reports:

Among them is a proposal to make the district’s internal auditor independent of the district, and direct the school board to consult the auditor before putting levies on the ballot.

The commission considered but did not recommend a mayoral takeover of the district.
