Monday: Students begin taking the Ohio Graduation Tests, the state tests they must pass to graduate from high school.

Monday: Striking Strongsville teachers, district negotiators and federal mediator meet to maybe possibly consider scheduling new talks. (via Strongsville Patch)

Tuesday: State Board of Education members pick Ohio’s next state superintendent. It’ll probably be one of these two guys. State board also listens to public comments on new rules on the use of seclusion and restraints in schools and reveals what schools may have to do to get A’s, B’s, C’s and so on under Ohio’s new school report card system.

Tuesday: Testimony on the K-12 and higher education parts of Gov. John Kasich’s proposed budget continues in the state House of Representatives this week.

Reminder: Ohio educators hold a weekly Twitter chat Mondays at 9 p.m. under the hashtag #ohedchat. This week’s topic is differentiation or differentiated instruction, which is basically tailoring instruction to each student’s needs.
