Strongsville Education Association Removes “Wall of Shame” Photo Album

Commenter: "Way to pull down my comment about acting professional. Well played, SEA...well played"

The Strongsville teachers union has deleted an online photo gallery of staff brought in to replace teachers who have been on strike since Monday.

The album had been posted on the Strongsville Education Association’s Facebook page, but was deleted Wednesday.

StateImpact Ohio wrote about the album on Wednesday:

Among status updates about the negotiation process and thank you’s to community members for their support is a photo album titled “Wall of Shame.” The album features images of the staff brought in to replace the striking teachers. Accompanying some of the photos is commentary.

Teachers and their supporters have been posting comments on the photos as well. Some of the comments have sparked debate, like a comment that reads “That teacher yelling in the background is my son’s teacher. I am so disgusted I want to throw up.”

Conservative website Media Trackers Ohio has posted additional screenshots of the photo album.

The teachers union has not returned calls from StateImpact Ohio seeking comment.

WKSU’s M.L. Schultze reports that teacher pay appears to be the biggest issue of contention between the union and the district:

Right now, many teachers get automatic pay raises based on each year of classroom experience, and more money when they get higher-level college degrees.

“It’s usually between 2 to 3 percent of an increase from the first year to the second year, that’s a step. There are also columns, columns are B.A., bachelor’s; B.A. plus 15, B.A. plus 30, masters and so on. What we’re saying, is we need to freeze those steps in order to balance our budget,” [Superintendent John Krupinski said.]

The union and the district board of education met last night with a federal mediator but remain “substantially divided on key issues,” according to a district press release. The district says there are no current plans for the negotiation teams to meet with the mediator again.

    Thank you Matt! Conservatives Unite!

Teachers want more $ for service & education but no mention of performance. The union protects the incompetent and punishes the productive.
