Ashe Culture Center: How the Press Covered One Ohio Charter School Sponsor

Although the Ohio Board of Education is set to revoke Ashe Culture Center’s ability to sponsor charter schools today, the Cleveland Plain Dealer and other Ohio media outlets have been covering Ashe and its schools for several years.

The timeline of stories and state press releases below, focusing in particular on three schools–Marcus Garvey Academy in Cleveland, which must close by June 30, 2012 for academic performance and Arts Academy and Arts Academy West, which are both already closed–traces the path that brought the non-profit and its schools to this point.
