hoping to thin its workforce with an early retirement plan.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a title=\"Dartmouth-Hitchcock asks for voluntary early retirements of 725\" href=\"http:\/\/www.unionleader.com\/article\/20110810\/NEWS02\/708119999\" target=\"_blank\">A piece by Denis Paiste in the <em>New Hampshire Union-Leader <\/em><\/a>illustrates the continued fallout of state budget cuts on the health care sector:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Dartmouth-Hitchcock is seeking early retirements from about 725 employees, or 8.3 percent of its staff, at its main employees campus, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, in Lebanon, and at community sites in Concord, Manchester, Nashua and Keene.<\/p>\n<p>The state&#8217;s largest health care institution, with 8,700 employees, Dartmouth-Hitchcock said the realignment, which targets non-clinical staff, was in response to recent cuts by the state of New Hampshire in health care reimbursements.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a title=\"Hospitals sue New Hampshire for Medicaid millions\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newhampshire.com\/article\/20110725\/NEWS02\/110729930\/0\/newhampshire\" target=\"_blank\">Recently, Dartmouth-Hitchcock joined nine other New Hampshire hospitals in a lawsuit against the state<\/a>.\u00a0 The providers claim the state is violating the law by enacting $250 million in cuts to Medicaid payments.\u00a0 The lawsuit also accuses the state of levying an illegal
