About a week after my long post focusing on New Hampshire’s green economy<\/a>, it looks like the state’s alternative energy businesses have been busy courting Asian markets.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Demand for solar technology is increasing in China.<\/p><\/div>\n

First, as James Connonly of Mass High Tech <\/em>reports<\/a>, Merrimack-based GT Solar has reeled in a big order:<\/p>\n

“Solar energy equipment manufacturer GT Solar International Inc. today said that it has received a $55 million order from a new customer in Asia for its polysilicon production equipment.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Mass High Tech <\/em>also reports <\/a>that LED-focused ARC Energy of Nashua brought in a $96.9 million Asian contract.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Recently, China has emerged as a growing market for renewable energy\u00a0as well as\u00a0a global powerhouse\u00a0<\/a>in green manufacturing.\u00a0 And as\u00a0the Financial Times <\/em>and UPI found<\/a>, the Chinese government is pushing for more alternative energy growth by offering incentives:<\/p>\n

“Beijing announced it was guaranteeing solar developers certain payments for every kilowatt-hour of clean energy they feed into the nation’s grid…<\/p>\n

…A feed-in tariff guaranteeing about 15 U.S. cents per kilowatt hour of electricity could put the country in a leadership position, the Financial Times<\/a> reports…<\/p>\n

…Beijing’s European rivals have started cutting back on solar power subsidies, meaning China is set to become a world leader in solar panel purchases.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
