Find out how New Hampshire stacks up after the jump.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Yesterday, we showed you a cool infographic created by a team of reporters at Stateline detailing, state-by-state, how a European recession could affect the US export economy.\u00a0 Although New Hampshire wasn&#8217;t among the &#8220;highest risk&#8221; states, it ranked as &#8220;high risk.&#8221;\u00a0 (You can check out that post <a title=\"How A European Recession Could Hurt Key Export States\u2013Including NH\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/new-hampshire\/2011\/12\/07\/how-a-european-recession-could-hurt-key-export-states-including-nh\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>And it seems that the folks at <a title=\"Stateline\" href=\"http:\/\/stateline.org\/live\/\" target=\"_blank\">Stateline<\/a> have been on a roll.\u00a0 Another state-by-state graphic has caught our eye, and we just had to share it.<\/p>\n<p>When the failure of the congressional &#8220;Super Committee&#8221; was originally announced just before Thanksgiving, we <a title=\"NH Senators React To Super-Committee Failure\u2013And How It Could Affect Portsmouth Naval Shipyard\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/new-hampshire\/2011\/11\/23\/nh-senators-react-to-super-committee-failure-and-how-it-could-affect-portsmouth-naval-shipyard\/\" target=\"_blank\">linked to a series of stories questioning how, if at all, mandatory defense cuts could affect installations like the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard<\/a>.\u00a0 The people at Stateline have taken that concept further, comparing how much defense money states get (by way of salaries, procurement, etc.) versus how much other federal money they rake in.\u00a0 They then broke that money down by the percentage of each state&#8217;s GDP.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In many states, defense spending is well ahead of other federal spending.\u00a0 For its part, New Hampshire appears to be on the relative low end of the federal funding scale, with roughly five percent of GDP accounted for by federal spending.\u00a0 And, like most states, the bulk of that money is related to defense.\u00a0 To put that figure into perspective, <a title=\"How A European Recession Could Hurt Key Export States\u2013Including NH\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/new-hampshire\/2011\/12\/07\/how-a-european-recession-could-hurt-key-export-states-including-nh\/\" target=\"_blank\">as we posted yesterday<\/a>, about 1.9 percent of the state&#8217;s GDP is represented by European exports.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3974\"  class=\"wp-caption module image center\" style=\"max-width: 500px;\"><a class=\"fancybox\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/new-hampshire\/files\/2011\/12\/Defense-Spending-2.jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3974\" title=\"Defense Spending (2)\" src=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/new-hampshire\/files\/2011\/12\/Defense-Spending-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"1523\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/new-hampshire\/files\/2011\/12\/Defense-Spending-2.jpg 500w, https:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/new-hampshire\/files\/2011\/12\/Defense-Spending-2-300x913.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/new-hampshire\/files\/2011\/12\/Defense-Spending-2-220x670.jpg 220w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-media-credit\">Carla Uriona, Sarah Emmons, and Liz Gross \/ Stateline<\/p><p class=\"wp-caption-text\"> <\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, we showed you a cool infographic created by a team of reporters at Stateline detailing, state-by-state, how a European recession could affect the US export economy.\u00a0 Although New Hampshire wasn&#8217;t among the &#8220;highest risk&#8221; states, it ranked as &#8220;high risk.&#8221;\u00a0 (You can check out that post here.)
