We&#39;ve charted out the info!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This week, we posted Six Surprising Takeaways from the 2012 NH Business Outlook Survey.\u00a0 (You can read that story <a title=\"Six Surprising Takeaways From The 2012 NH Business Outlook Survey\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/new-hampshire\/2011\/11\/29\/six-surprising-takeaways-from-the-2012-nh-business-outlook-survey\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>One of the things we noted was how concerns that hadn&#8217;t really qualified as &#8220;major&#8221; last year were suddenly a big deal for businesses this year, and vice-versa.\u00a0 The high cost of energy, for example, reappeared in the <a title=\"2012 NH Business Outlook Survey\" href=\"http:\/\/bianhassoc.weblinkconnect.com\/cwt\/external\/wcpages\/newsroom\/rkm-bia_business_outlook_survey.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">2012 Outlook Survey<\/a> after a two year absence.\u00a0 Meanwhile, foreign competition dropped off this year&#8217;s list of top 10 concerns.\u00a0 And those aren&#8217;t the only big changes in businesses&#8217; worries from last year to now.<\/p>\n<p>We found this information so interesting that we just couldn&#8217;t resist the urge to create a nifty chart based on the survey information.*<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>(Just a brief note here&#8211;sometimes, to make headings readable, we have to shorten them.\u00a0 &#8220;Enviro. Regs.&#8221; is an abbreviation for &#8220;Too many environmental regulations.&#8221;\u00a0 &#8220;Lack of Qual. Labor&#8221; stands for &#8220;Lack of Qualified Labor.&#8221;\u00a0 Other, more minor language changes are listed below.**)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheet\/pub?hl=en_US&amp;hl=en_US&amp;key=0Atb_8tUjelW6dHJrRHYxcVRVOFdKd2NlaXU5VV9Dc0E&amp;single=true&amp;gid=2&amp;output=html&amp;widget=true\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"625\" height=\"425\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"source\">Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/bianhassoc.weblinkconnect.com\/cwt\/external\/wcpages\/newsroom\/rkm-bia_business_outlook_survey.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">BIA 2012 NH Business Outlook Survey<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"source\"><em>*A couple of data notes are in order here.\u00a0 First, we confirmed with RKM Research &amp; Communications, the firm that conducted the 2012 Outlook Survey, that businesses could choose to answer all&#8211;or none&#8211;of the issues listed were &#8220;major concerns.&#8221;\u00a0 So the numbers for a given year might add up to more, or less, than 100 percent.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"source\"><em>**Second, survey language is a very touchy issue, as it can affect how respondents choose to answer a question.\u00a0 For the purposes of clear charting, however, we made our best attempt to offer more concise descriptions of the issues while preserving the meaning.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"source\"><em>As noted above &#8220;Enviro. Regs.&#8221; is a reference to &#8220;Too Many Environmental Regulations,&#8221;\u00a0 and &#8220;Lack of Qual.
