Their goal? Get concerned grassroots\u00a0organizers\u00a0to pressure elected officials into finding a bipartisan solution to the impending <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/blogs\/money\/2012\/09\/19\/161427078\/the-fiscal-cliff-in-three-and-a-half-graphics\" target=\"_blank\">fiscal cliff<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Former New Hampshire Governor Judd Gregg is a co-chair of the national organization, called Fix The Debt.<\/p>\n<p>The organization was founded by the Clinton Administration&#8217;s SBA director Erskine Bowles, and former Senator Alan Simpson &#8212; authors of the failed bipartisan debt-reduction plan that came out of President Obama&#8217;s 18-member National Commission On Fiscal Responsibility and Reform, which was formed in 2010. \u00a0According to spokesman Jon Romano, Simpson and Bowles founded Fix The Debt as a response to the &#8220;unwillingness [of politicians] from both sides to come together.&#8221; &#8220;CEOs,&#8221; Romano says, &#8220;are saying this is hurting our business, our economy, and we need Congress to act.&#8221;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fixthedebt.org\/uploads\/files\/ftd-toolkit-v5-full.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">42 page pamphlet<\/a>, Fix The Debt calls on citizens to educate each other and pressure their elected officials by organizing community events, showing up with posters at the polls, and hosting call-ins to congresspeople after the November election.<\/p>\n<p>New Hampshire state Senator Lou D&#8217;Allesandro (D) and Nashua Mayor Donnalee Lozeau (R), New \u00a0Hampshire&#8217;s statewide co-chairs, and are hosting a media conference in Concord tomorrow to publicize the organization&#8217;s outreach plans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A bipartisan group of politicians and businessmen\u00a0are reaching out to ordinary Americans, asking them to\u00a0bring\u00a0homemade signs and banners\u00a0to the polls in November (they suggest paint; stencil, or tape).
