Hopes Training Fund Expansion Could Spur Job Growth\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/2012\/04\/17\/labor-dept-hopes-training-fund-expansion-could-spur-job-growth\/\" target=\"_blank\">expansion<\/a> of Idaho&#8217;s <a>workforce training program<\/a> has been approved by the Workforce Development Council.<\/p>\n<p>As long as Idaho&#8217;s <a title=\"Work in Progress: Idaho\u2019s Unemployment App\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/topic\/unemployment-app\/\" target=\"_blank\">unemployment rate<\/a> stays above 7 percent, businesses will be able to apply for training grants to replace retiring employees.\u00a0 Last month, Idaho&#8217;s <a title=\"Idaho\u2019s May Jobless Rate Goes Up, Ends 9 Straight Months Of Decline\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/2012\/06\/15\/idahos-may-jobless-rate-goes-up-ends-9-straight-months-of-decline\/\" target=\"_blank\">unemployment rate<\/a> was 7.8 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Before this change, businesses were only eligible for the training money<del><\/del> if they were expanding their current workforce or averting layoffs.\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In a recent press release, assistant deputy director of Idaho&#8217;s Department of Labor Dwight Johnson said the state&#8217;s aging workforce is putting pressure on Idaho&#8217;s labor pool.<\/p>\n<div class=\"related-content alignleft\"><h4 class=\"related-header\">Related<\/h4><div class=\"links\"><h5>Posts<\/h5><ul><li class=\"link\"><a href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/2012\/04\/17\/labor-dept-hopes-training-fund-expansion-could-spur-job-growth\/\">Labor Dept.
