Poverty is going up statewide, and in most Idaho counties.\u00a0 &#8220;I don\u2019t know that there is anything alarming about it,&#8221; Hyer says, &#8220;it just tells us that we are probably not much different than the nation.&#8221;\u00a0 The number of people living in poverty is slightly higher in Idaho than the national average, which is 15.3 percent.<\/p>\n<p>[spreadsheet key=&#8221;0AiLU6Cs5LWZIdHRWT2kzc1lXRDBPY3d3OGwyUzJtRWc&#8221; source=&#8221;U.S. Census Bureau&#8221; sheet=0 filter=0 paginate=0 sortable=1]<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.census.gov\/did\/www\/saipe\/data\/maps\/index.html?reload\" target=\"_blank\">The Census data<\/a> show the states with the highest number of people living in poverty are largely in the South.\u00a0 Mississippi has the highest rate at 22.4 percent.
