Perkins Act of 2006. The Perkins Act is a federal program aimed at improving technical education in the United States, and its clusters are widely used by vocational programs and counselors to assist students in preparing for and then finding jobs.\u00a0 Using our forecasts, we identify the most promising clusters for three categories of job seekers. The state is projected to lead the nation in the share of jobs in the agriculture, food and natural resource sectors by 2018.\u00a0 (So are Wyoming, North Dakota, Arkansas and South Dakota).\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/tag\/agriculture\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ag<\/a> and natural resources have long been staples of Idaho&#8217;s economy.<\/p>\n<p>Jay O&#8217;Laughlin is the director of the Idaho Forest Wildlife and Range Policy Analysis Group at the College of Natural Resources, University of Idaho.\u00a0 \u201cThe key thing here is that our natural resource industries in the state are poised to help lead Idaho into the future,&#8221; O&#8217;Laughlin said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2307\"  class=\"wp-caption module image right\" style=\"max-width: 300px;\"><a class=\"fancybox\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/files\/2011\/11\/boardroom_chrisryan_getty.jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2307\" title=\"boardroom_chrisryan_getty\" src=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/files\/2011\/11\/boardroom_chrisryan_getty-300x207.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"207\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/files\/2011\/11\/boardroom_chrisryan_getty-300x207.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/files\/2011\/11\/boardroom_chrisryan_getty-220x151.jpg 220w, https:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/files\/2011\/11\/boardroom_chrisryan_getty.jpg 498w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-media-credit\">Chris Ryan \/ Getty Images<\/p><p class=\"wp-caption-text\"> <\/p><\/div>\n<p>Still, the report forecasts it will be Idaho&#8217;s business, management and administration sectors that will make up the largest share of jobs in the Gem State.\u00a0 Those jobs will require a substantial amount of education after high school.\u00a0 And jobs in the marketing, sales and service industries will add the most jobs through 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some other interesting facts from <a href=\"http:\/\/cew.georgetown.edu\/clusters\/#\" target=\"_blank\">the study<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thirty-seven percent of all jobs in 2011 will be for workers who have either a high school diploma or incomplete high school education with some on-the-job training.
