C.L. &#8220;Butch&#8221; Otter is spending part of his week in Coeur d&#8217;Alene at <a title=\"Idaho\u2019s Business Lobby: Idaho Association Of Commerce And Industry\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/topic\/idaho-association-of-commerce-and-industry\/\" target=\"_blank\">Idaho&#8217;s largest business lobby&#8217;s<\/a> annual convention. Gov. Otter&#8217;s spokesman says one of the administration&#8217;s main goals for the next legislative session is to pass a third-consecutive year of tax cuts.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, the Legislature <a title=\"Idaho\u2019s Top Earners Will Get A Tax Break\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/2012\/03\/29\/idahos-top-earners-will-get-a-tax-break\/\" target=\"_blank\">lowered corporate and individual income tax rates<\/a> for the wealthiest Idahoans. In 2013, the Legislature overhauled the state&#8217;s business personal property tax, <a title=\"Idaho Legislature Approves $20.7 Million In Tax Cuts\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/2013\/04\/04\/idaho-legislature-approves-20-7-million-in-tax-cuts\/\" target=\"_blank\">exempting the tax for 90 percent of Idaho businesses<\/a>. As for 2014, Gov. Otter Signs Personal Property Tax Bill, Calls For Full Repeal\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/2013\/04\/04\/gov-otter-signs-personal-property-tax-bill-calls-for-full-repeal\/\" target=\"_blank\">wrote to lawmakers<\/a> that their newly-minted personal property tax exemption for most Idaho businesses was just a start. As <a title=\"Idaho\u2019s Business Lobby To Set 2014 Legislative Agenda, Including More Tax Cuts\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/2013\/06\/11\/idahos-business-lobby-to-set-2014-legislative-agenda-including-more-tax-cuts\/\" target=\"_blank\">StateImpact reported yesterday<\/a>, Rep. George Eskridge (R-Dover) isn&#8217;t convinced lawmakers should fully repeal the business equipment tax, though he&#8217;s sure the discussion will happen.<\/p>\n<p>Warbis says the administration is also considering a further reduction to corporate and individual income tax rates. With the 2012 law change, the top individual income tax and corporate income tax rates are now 7.4 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The Otter administration is also looking at further economic development incentives through tax rebates for businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Warbis says Idaho was a finalist among four other states last winter to lure a company to relocate to the Gem State, bringing with it high-paying tech jobs. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdapress.com\/news\/local_news\/article_3cc0e9f8-71f0-5ba3-a645-8c9e34b39e0c.html\" target=\"_blank\">As the Coeur d&#8217;Alene Press reports<\/a>, Idaho wasn&#8217;t able to offer the multimillion dollar incentive packages the other states could. Warbis says the company &#8212; which will remain unnamed due to a confidentiality agreement &#8212; chose not to relocate for &#8220;internal reasons.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Warbis describes the business as a &#8220;significant global company&#8221; that would fit well with industries that are on the rise in Idaho. It could still relocate in the future. At which point, Warbis says, &#8220;we hope to hear from them when they&#8217;re ready to grow.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
