The net loss of Idahoans aged 21-30 last year was 149. The data show 11,530 young people moved to Idaho from other states in 2012, while 11,679 left.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/a\/boisestate.edu\/spreadsheet\/oimg?key=0AiLU6Cs5LWZIdDI5VWsyOUxRT2kzNzFvZzE3dGNZWFE&amp;oid=1&amp;zx=arlwcmeljvjq\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"source\">Source: Idaho Department of Labor | Idaho Department of Transportation<\/p>\n<p>The Idaho Department of Labor is keeping an eye on this unsettling trend; young people are <a href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/maps\/drivers-license-data-offers-clues-about-where-idahoans-are-moving\/\" target=\"_blank\">leaving the state<\/a> in search of higher-paying jobs while retirees from out-of-state are moving in faster than ever.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The shift will have a <a title=\"Bottom Rung: Why An Influx Of Retirees To Idaho Is Creating More Low-Wage Jobs\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/2013\/05\/08\/bottom-rung-why-an-influx-of-retirees-to-idaho-is-creating-more-low-wage-jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;profound impact&#8221; on Idaho&#8217;s economy and workforce<\/a> says Idaho Department of Labor researcher Bob Uhlenkott.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve mapped migration patterns twice, once in <a title=\"Mapping Migration: Where Idahoans Go\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/maps\/mapping-migration-where-idahoans-go\/\" target=\"_blank\">May 2012 with IRS data<\/a>, and again last month using <a title=\"Driver\u2019s License Data Offers Clues About Where Idahoans Are Moving\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/maps\/drivers-license-data-offers-clues-about-where-idahoans-are-moving\/\" target=\"_blank\">driver&#8217;s license data<\/a>. It&#8217;s the driver&#8217;s license data Uhlenkott likes to use because it&#8217;s more current.
